Spicy Sesame Soup Dumplings

Have a few dumplings in the freezer? This spicy and saucy soup dumpling dish comes together in minutes and requires no steamer.

1 tsp grated

1 Tbsp

1 Tbsp

2 tsp

~20 frozen soup
dumplings

2 tsp

1 tsp grated

1 Tbsp

cilantro

Instructions:

Ingredients:

sesame seeds

1.5 Tbsp sesame paste

In a wide pot or saucepan, combine sesame paste, miso, rice vinegar, shoyu, chili crisp, sugar, garlic, ginger and 3/4 cup water. Whisk together.

1.

Next, place the dumplings into the pot and cover. Bring the sauce to a boil and then turn heat down to a low simmer for about 5 minutes.

2.

Once the dumpling skins have softened, cut the heat and remove the lid.

3.

Garnish with more chili crisp, sesame seeds, and roughly chopped cilantro.

4.

Notes: We used a donabe clay pot for this, but any will do. A non-stick is preferable.

You want the sauce to start in a loose/watery consistency as it will reduce and thicken with starch as the dumplings cook.

You’ll know when the dumplings are cooked through when the tops have lost their stark white color.
